Gum-Arabic Prints

I created these prints in a class called Pixels to Ink. The idea behind the class being just that; taking images from the digital realm and bringing them into the methods of manual printing.  I used a method known as gum Arabic printing to transfer the leaf image from the original printouts onto pre-cut print quality paper. After allowing the prints to dry for at least 24 hours I used a second transfer to place multiple colors on the leaves and added the base structure of the beetles, again allowed them full dry time. after trimming them by hand tearing I used ink and prisma-color markers to outline and color the beetles to finish the pieces.
